Andrew Young
Andrew Young, the former mayor of Atlanta, worked with William Payne to turn Atlanta into a host city. He was a crucial factor that earned the right of Atlanta being the host city. He was able to get much support through his contacts as a former chief delegate to the United Nations in the Carter Administration. He influenced African, Middle Eastern, and Asian countries to vote for Atlanta over Athens. (For more information on how Atlanta was chosen, click the tab "Choosing Atlanta".)
