The construction of Centennial Olympic Stadium started in 1993, and was built in time for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. The cost of this stadium was 207 million dollars, and this massive 85,000 seating stadium was where millions of people gather to watch the track and field events, the opening ceremony, and the closing ceremony. This stadium was where the stadium has seen the memorable success of Michael Johnson*, Marie-José Pérec*, and many others. Centennial Olympic Stadium was reconstructed into the baseball stadium Turner Field after the Olympics. The reconstruction was completed in 1997 and is now home of the Atlanta Braves.
