Muhammad Ali lighted the Olympic flame during the 1996 games. In the beginning, no one knew who was going to light the flame until behind the curtains Muhammad Ali stepped onto the stage and after being passed the flame, held it up in the air proudly. It was teary moment for many fans, for this great athlete who suffers from Parkinson's disease, with his right hand raised high in the air holding the Olympic torch and his left hand shaking slightly, was able to light the cauldron. This is believed to be one of the most emotional Olympic torch lightings.
